Hello Wildcat Families,
Scurry-Rosser Elementary School (SRE) has a very active Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), and we hope you’ll consider joining us. We are proud to announce that this year the PTO is expanding our reach to the 4th & 5th grade students.
Our goals include:
• Fostering better understanding of the learning process through communication between parents/guardians and faculty
• Helping to meet the needs of all students through cooperation between family and school
• Supporting the school through volunteer and financial assistance
Members of the PTO include parents and guardians of Scurry-Rosser students, faculty members, and professional staff. There are many opportunities to volunteer, whatever your talents, interests, or time constraints. Ongoing fund-raisers that you can start participating in immediately include collecting Box Tops, labels from Tyson® Project A+, SunnyD and participating on the Shoparoo App. More information about these can be found on our Facebook page, website and in future newsletters.
Last year, the participation and support of PTO members contributed to the success of many events including the Spirit Store, Christmas Store, Book Fair and Glow Walk. The funds raised from these events ensured we were able to give back to the teachers and students of our school. The PTO provided teachers with a back to school gift, snacks from our food cart, Christmas and Teacher Appreciation gifts as well as miscellaneous classroom supplies as needed. Students all received a free school shirt at the beginning of the school year and a free book from the Book Fair. In addition the PTO helped fund field trips so all students would be able to attend and additional computer equipment and tablets were provided and installed in classrooms.
PTO meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Our first meeting this year will be Tuesday, September 13th at 6:30PM in the Scurry-Rosser Elementary School Library.
We look forward to your support and another fun, exciting, and productive school year! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact one of our officers.
