Well the 2015-2016 school year has come to an end but not before a very eventful month of May. We started off the month by naming our Student of the Month, 3rd grader Collin Mahana, from Mrs. Griffin’s class. Next we celebrated all of our teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week and Nurse Rowe for National Nurse’s Day. We rounded out that busy week with our STAAR Pep rally, pumping our 3rd graders up for their STAAR exams the following week.
Monday and Tuesday of the next week our 3rd graders took their STAAR Math and Reading tests. It was an intense two days but our whole campus worked together to provide a wonderful testing environment for our 3rd graders to be successful. Thanks everyone for all of your help on those two testing days. We completed that hectic week with our 3rd graders taking a tour of the middle school for their upcoming 4th grade year and went on a picnic afterwards. It was a great way to end a very stressful week, and they deserved it!!!!! Well done 3rd grade!
The following week we had our kindergarteners practicing for their graduation ceremony on Thursday, which was spectacular. The graduates all did a wonderful job and the teachers prepared them well. Thank you everyone for coming out and supporting our students. That same week, we celebrated our Accelerated Readers. The top three “AR” point earners, in each grade level, were treated to a shopping spree at the Kaufman Dollar Tree. Great job guys! We finished up that busy week with our Parking Lot Picnic. The weather was perfect for this celebration. Thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, and other family members who came out for this special day.
The next week was the busiest of all! We started off that week with Field Day for PreK, Kinder and 1st grades. Then came Field Day for 2nd & 3rd grades. As usual these days were a complete success. Thanks Coach Prince and Coach Phillips for all of your hard work to make these days GREAT! Also that week we had our Pre-K graduation and 1st grade End of the Year Awards. Both of these ceremonies were wonderful. Following Field Days and the awards ceremonies, came our Inflatable Days (obstacle course and water slide) during specials! We finished up that crazy week by celebrating our wonderful PTO board with a PTO Appreciation Brunch. Thank you ladies for all you do for our school. YOU ROCK! Wow, what an amazing week!!!!!
Finally, this whirlwind of a month came to a close with our 2nd grade and 3rd grade End of Year Awards! It is amazing how this school year has flown by and how much growth our students have made! It truly does take a village! Thank you all for your continued support and help to make this the best little elementary school in Texas! Remember, Scurry-Rosser Elementary School, Where the Wildcat Tradition Begins! See you all next year! Take care and God Bless!
