April has come and gone, here at Scurry-Rosser Elementary. We began the month by naming our Student of the Month, Jaylee Fisher, 1st grader from Mrs. Stribling’s class. We also celebrated our Accelerated Readers, who met their 3rd nine weeks goal, with a popcorn party.

The first week of April was full of events. We celebrated our Para-professionals, those ladies who are extensions of the classroom, and contribute so much to our campus. Next came Kindergarten Graduation Pictures, where each kindergartener took their cap and gown pictures for their memory books. Thank you to our PTO moms who helped make this hectic event run smoothly. We ended that full week with our 3rd Nine Weeks PAWS Assembly. Lots of students continue to maintain all A/B’s or all A’s in their classes while at the same time earn perfect attendance. Great job students!

The following week of April, the PTO had their monthly meeting to discuss upcoming events. Just a reminder that our monthly PTO meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning at 6:30 in the SRES library and everyone is welcome. At the end of that week, our kindergarten classes traveled to the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler for their annual field trip. Thank you to our parents and our PTO for providing the funding for our field trip shirts. They were a big hit.

We rounded out our month of April by celebrating our Student of the Month and our Shining Star Students. This month’s character traits were “courage” and “cooperation.” Each child chosen exhibited these character traits. Scurry-Rosser Elementary School continues to build strong character traits within our students. One of the many reasons SRES is a GREAT place!

The final event scheduled for this busy month is the PTO Glow RUN/WALK on April 29th at 8pm the High School football field. If it rains, the make up date is May 6th.

Please remember you are always welcome at SRES so visit often and don’t forget: Scurry-Rosser Elementary School, Where the Wildcat Tradition Begins. Take care and God Bless.
