Pre-Kindergarten
Pre-K enjoyed visiting the band hall at the high school for our field trip on February 18th. The band performed several songs for us and Miss Johnson told us about the different instrument families. We then enjoyed a great play time and lunch at McDonald’s in Kaufman. Our lunches were paid for by one of our parents and we thank you so very much. A great day in pre-k!
Kindergarten
Thank you to all the kindergarten parents for sponsoring the pizza Valentine Party. The kids had a great time. Thank you to the PTO for all their hard work during the book fair, it was a huge success. All the change donated for the door contest was enough to buy every student in the elementary school a book, which is Awesome!!! Congratulations to Mrs. Crouch’s class who had the grooviest door. Their class won a cotton candy party and Mrs. Crouch won a $25 gift card.
Kindergarten parents, please keep an eye out for information regarding our Field Trip. It will be on April 15 and we will be visiting the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler, TX.
First Grade
First grade had a wonderful time during our Valentine Parties. Students enjoyed passing out Valentines and were so excited to be able to read the Valentines they received. They enjoyed this about as much as the ice cream and goodies we had! It was an exciting and fun day. First grade is also excited about our field trip on February 22nd to the Dallas World Aquarium. After six months in the classroom, the students are anxious to do some learning outside of the classroom. We want to thank the PTO for helping to purchase the students’s tickets and helping to make our trip possible. This month first graders also spent some time at the Book Fair and were treated to a free book - again compliments of the PTO. It was great to see them so excited about books. This busy month will round out with a visit from the Tooth Fairy. Teachers want to encourage parents to keep reading with their child every night - it really does make a difference.
Second Grade
We have been busy in second grade. We are becoming good, independent readers. We have learned about fractions and adding and subtracting with regrouping. We learned about our presidents, government leaders and other famous Americans.
February 4th was our 100th day of school. We celebrated with 100th day activities and crafts. Some students dressed up like 100 year old people while others had 100 items on their clothes.
We also celebrated Valentine’s Day. Each second grade class had a Valentine box decorating contest. Our students were very creative. Our parties were a huge success. Thank you to our parents for supplying valentines and treats for everyone to enjoy.
Third Grade
We want to start by giving a HUGE “Thank You” to the PTO for hosting the book fair again this year and making sure each child received a book. We would also like to thank all the parent volunteers that donate their time and vehicles towards making sure each third-grader, who stays for the after-school enrichment and test-taking strategies sessions, has a ride home. Your help and support means so much to us and the students because this means that more students will have the opportunity to be successful in May.
The 3rd grade field trip is coming up on March 4th and we are still in need of chaperones. Please let your student’s teacher know if you are willing to help out so we can start putting the students into groups for the trip.
3rd grade will also be starting on their animal research/diorama project soon and they will need lots of shoe boxes, so please save and send any that you may have to school with your child.
Last but certainly not least, Spring Break is coming up soon and then STAAR will be here before you know it so please continue to encourage your child to read something every night and practice their math facts! It may not seem like it but your encouragement and support really does boost your child’s achievement!
