Pre-Kindergarten

Pre-K continues to learn new letters and sounds each week. We were the winners of the “Soctober Contest” as well as “Perfectly Punctual.” Way to go Pre-K !!! We enjoyed a cookie decorating party as well as an ice cream treat from the cafeteria. I am very proud of our class and ALL our students.

Kindergarten

The Veteran’s Day luncheon was a huge success and our kinder students loved being little turkeys at the Thanksgiving feast. Thank you to all the Veterans and family members who attended these events, the memories we make with our children last a lifetime. Please continue to work with your child on letter recognition, letter sounds and reading their sight words and little readers.

First Grade

First grade had a wonderful time learning about the first Thanksgiving and took a virtual field trip on the Mayflower as well as to Plymouth Colony. We learned about the Pilgrim’s experiences in moving to the New World and helped develop an understanding of the Colonial and Wampanoag cultures of the early 1600’s. Students compared our lives to the Pilgrims and students were glad to have our housing, clothing, food, chores, schools and games. Teachers want to encourage parents to continue reading nightly with their children, especially over the week long Thanksgiving break. The teachers also want to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday.

Second Grade

In second grade we are working on States of Matter in Science. We have melted solids to liquids and made oobleck in the science lab. In social studies we have been studying Pilgrims and holidays such as Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. We also took a virtual tour of the Mayflower.

Third Grade

We’re having all kinds of fun learning new stuff in 3rd grade! Our first procedural paper on How to Carve a Pumpkin was an adventure which ended with ooey-gooey pumpkin carving for all. As we were busy scooping the guts out of pumpkins, in science, the students learned how to make slime in order to explore chemical changes in matter and add to the Halloween festive spirit.

Displayed beside our Pumpkin essays, Our Wall of Honor is expanding as the number of excellent Visualize assignments increase. We want to celebrate our Top Rockin’ Readers for the month of October. Daugherty’s--Cash Rouse; Griffin’s--Collin Mahanna; Palm’s--Baylen Bodiford; and Rooswinkel’s--Kate Whitsitt. Congratulations to the students recognized at the Paw’s Assembly for all of your hard work! Thank you, P.T.O. for the awesome umbrellas for the playground!
