Can you believe that tomorrow is May???? I sure can’t! April at Scurry-Rosser Elementary School has been an eventful one.

We started out the month with Kindergarten going on their field trip to the Caldwell Zoo. They had a fun time and the weather was perfect! Next came our AR popcorn party, Kindergarten graduation pictures, and our 3rd nine weeks PAWS assembly.

Our first graders were our next group to travel on their field trip. They went to the Dallas World Aquarium where they saw penguins, hammer-head sharks, king crabs and alligators plus many, many more aquatic animals.

The third week of the month was our most eventful. That was our week of STAAR testing! We had 100% attendance both days with our third graders. Thank you parents for having your students at school and on time. Our wonderful PTO paid for all of our third graders to have breakfast on both of those days, as well. Thank you SRES PTO for caring so much. After STAAR came our 2nd grade field trip. They traveled to the Cook Center Planetarium at Navarro College in Corsicana to see two shows about our moon and the solar system. We ended the week celebrating our Shining Stars for the month of April. April’s Shining Star character trait was Leadership.

The final week of April will be just as jam-packed as the others. Both field days for all five grade levels will be at the end of the week. I would like to extend a big thank you to Coach Prince and Coach Phillips for all of their hard work with the preparation, organizing and running of the events each day. We also need to thank Mrs. Cason for taking care of the field day t-shirt orders and ordering the food for our volunteers each day. One last thank you to all of the parents who will come out to cheer on their SRES student as well as the volunteers from the National Honor Society for their help. Field Day 2015 will be a huge success!

Since we are now entering into May, which happens to be our last full month of school, there is still lots to do and celebrate at Scurry-Rosser Elementary School. Make sure and remember to check your child’s “moose binder” daily for upcoming events and notes home. Thanks for everyone’s support and please remember, you are always welcome at Scurry-Rosser Elementary School, Where the Wildcat Tradition Begins.
