Pre-Kindergarten

Pre-K continues to work on letters and sounds. We are beginning to practice writing numbers one through ten. Also we have started practicing for our end-of-year graduation program.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten is very excited about our Field Trip to the Caldwell Zoo on April 2. Pictures will be in the next issue so be on the lookout! Kindergarten graduation pictures will be Wednesday, April 8th, please dress accordingly. Keep checking folders for important paperwork, we have lots of important dates and events coming up as the year draws to an end.

First Grade

It is an exciting time in first grade. Most of our students are blooming into independent readers! In March our attention turns to spring with a study of the weather and weather related events, leprechauns, lions and lambs. In math we have been working hard on learning about numbers; how to add, subtract and use related numbers. We are moving next to geometric shapes both two and three dimensional. We are also very excited about our upcoming field trip to the Dallas World Aquarium on Friday, April 17. Teachers would like to thank the PTO again for their generosity in helping with the admission cost to our students. We love our PTO!

Second Grade

We have started Shark Week and cursive writing. The students are really excited and eager to learn. In math they have been working on triple digit addition and subtraction. In science they will be starting a unit on plant and animal needs. Please continue to work with your child as we get closer to the end of the year.

The 2nd grade field trip has been scheduled for April 23, 2015 to the Cook Center Planetarium in Corsicana, Tx. Watch for field trip note after spring break.

Third Grade

With STAAR around the corner, we have made learning fun by playing fun review games like “Splat” and “Buzzer Mania.” We review great reading strategies with our “Rockin’ Reader’s Rap, the “MONSTER MASH”!

Congratulations to our awesome readers for the month of March: Tyler Burroughs, Jaxon Hatcher, Devin Weller, Michelle Stroud, Brandon Gerard, Dawson Hatcher and Kiah King!!!

Keep on Rockin’ and Readin’!

The 3rd grade students will be going on a field trip to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science this year on May 8th.
