Pre-Kindergarten
Pre-K continues to learn the alphabet and phonetic sounds. We enjoy music and our ABC rap song!
Kindergarten
Kindergarten just finished the TPRI (Texas Primary Reading Inventory) test for the middle of the year. We were excited to see growth and mastery in many areas of the test. Your child’s results were sent home in their black moose binder. Please continue to have your child study their sight words and read to you each day.
We will have an Ice Cream Sundae Valentine party on February 13th. More information about the Party and the upcoming field trip will be coming home soon.
First Grade
First grade students came back from the Christmas Break ready to move ahead. Students are beginning to read more independently and more fluently. In math, we are learning to count coins. In January our social studies classes included discussions about Dr, Martin Luther King, Jr. Students found it hard to believe that segregation was the way things were back in Dr. King’s day, which shows how far we have come.
Second Grade
We are excited to begin the second semester of the school year!! Please remember to sign your child’s behavior card daily. It is important to read with your child each night, as fluency is an important factor in second grade. There will also be an increase in math homework beginning in the next few weeks. We are beginning to plan our Valentine’s party, so look for information on this in your child’s moose binder soon!
Third Grade
In reading, the students are learning about the astronaut, Ellen Ochoa, and her adventures in outer space. So, in language arts, we are composing postcards about our imagined adventures in outer space. We will illustrate the flip side of the card to represent our experiences and, best of all, we will actually send the postcards to our own families. It’s so much fun to learn!
Keep up the good work with your “Visualize” Reader’s Responses and working on AR! Most students are doing and awesome job reading every day! Read to Succeed and Rock On!
