Pre-Kindergarten
The Pre-K class is busy learning the alphabet and sounds. Students are currently working on the letters I, P, and N. They have also been learning about Thanksgiving and the history behind the meaning of Thanksgiving. Pre-K is now getting ready for the Christmas Extravaganza by learning the songs that they will be singing.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten is moving along in math. We can now count, write and order our numbers to 20. We have also learned 12 letters of the alphabet and should be able to recognize, write and say the sound for each of those letters. Continue to practice the sight words and color words each night and don’t forget to read, read, read. We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
First Grade
First grade came back from Thanksgiving break refreshed and ready to learn. We have been working on reading comprehension skills and studying verbs. In math, we have been learning different strategies to use to subtract. We have written letters to Santa and have been practicing for the Christmas program. Classrooms are decorated and children are anxiously awaiting our next holiday. We have made reindeer, gingerbread houses and elves. Students are looking forward to our upcoming pajama day when we will enjoy a special story with our Principal, Mrs. Griffith, before our big Christmas party. The teachers are proud of how far their students have come in the short time they have been first graders!
Second Grade
It has been an exciting time in second grade this month. The elves, Jolly and Sophia, have joined us in Mrs. Moeller and Mrs. Betik’s classrooms. The Grinch has even made an appearance. The second graders have been working on double digit addition and subtraction along with writing their letters to Santa. All in all, it has been a wonderful month in 2nd grade.
Third Grade
In third grade Language Arts, we composed our letters to Santa and finished them in plenty of time to send off to the North Pole. This week, we are writing about the process of decorating a Christmas tree. We will decorate our paper trees as we lay out the process step-by-step. Our final creations will be glittering masterpieces that even Santa would be proud of.
Our “Rockin” Readers are amazing! Readers who are in the lead are posted weekly. “Visualize” Reader’s Responses are using their “hooks” to grab more readers. Many thanks to Pizza Hut for their “Book It Program. ” We have an on-going tally every 9 weeks, and award “Rockin’ Readers” with coupons. Congratulations to the top readers this month: Jaxon Hatcher, Logan Ross, and Dawson Hatcher. Keep up the great work! Let’s keep on “Rockin’ & “Readin” and don’t forget to keep working on your AR points!
