By Vickie Griffith, Scurry-Rosser Elementary School Principal
Hello everyone, I am Vickie Griffith, the new principal of Scurry-Rosser Elementary School. I am so glad to be here.
A little bit about me: I grew up in Itasca where my dad was athletic director/head football coach/teacher. I come from a family of educators where my three siblings and I are all teachers/administrators. I graduated high school in 1986, and soon thereafter married my high school sweetheart, Thomas. We have been married for 28 years. We have three adult children, John-Thomas, Tyler and Kaytlin, one daughter-in-law and our first grandchild on the way in April. We live in Ferris, Texas.
I was a late bloomer to education so after being a stay-at-home mother for a while with all three of my children, I went back to school to become a teacher. I graduated from UTA with both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. I have been in education for 20 years now: 14 years as a teacher, 4 years as a paraprofessional and 2 years as an administrator.
Since leaving Itasca I have longed to return to a small community like Scurry-Rosser. Becoming a principal has been a life-long dream of mine. When the SRISD School Board approved my contract in April, my dream came true.
It is my honor to be serving as your principal and I look forward to meeting everyone in the community. Take care and remember, Scurry-Rosser Elementary School is where the Wildcat Tradition Begins.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Griffith, SRES Principal
